Terms of Service
Last updated: October 2026
1. Who these terms cover
These terms apply to everyone who uses eLegal - clients searching for legal help, lawyers and law firms listing a practice, and police officers or departments accessing records features. By creating an account or browsing the directory, you agree to them.
2. What eLegal is - and isn't
eLegal is a directory and practice-management platform. It connects the public with lawyers and law firms, and gives professionals tools to manage cases, jobs, and client messages. eLegal is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, and is not a party to any engagement between a client and a lawyer or firm found through the platform.
3. Account eligibility and accuracy
You must provide accurate information when registering, including your professional credentials if you register as a lawyer, firm, or police account. Lawyer and firm profiles are reviewed before appearing publicly, but that review does not substitute for independent verification by anyone relying on a listing.
4. Professional conduct
Lawyers and firms using eLegal remain bound by the rules of professional conduct applicable to their practice. Nothing on this platform overrides the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners in Nigeria or any other applicable regulatory requirement.
5. Payments and subscriptions
Subscription payments are processed by Paystack and verified server-side. Fees, billing cycles, and refund terms are shown at the point of purchase. Suspending or cancelling a subscription does not entitle you to a pro-rated refund unless required by law.
6. Messaging and conduct
Messages sent through eLegal must relate to legitimate use of the platform. Harassment, spam, and attempts to circumvent account suspension are prohibited. Admins may suspend an account at any time if activity on it appears to violate these terms.
7. Content you submit
You retain ownership of content you post (profiles, articles, job listings). By posting it, you grant eLegal a license to display it on the platform. You're responsible for making sure you have the right to post what you submit.
8. Limitation of liability
eLegal is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, eLegal is not liable for the advice, conduct, or services of any lawyer or firm listed on the platform, or for losses arising from reliance on directory listings.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as the platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated revision date.
